Finding Qualified Tech Professionals Is Difficult

written by Cory Levine, courtesy of Wall Street & Technology
CIOs can't do it alone, but technology heads are challenged to find talented help, according to Robert Half Technology, which commissioned an independent phone survey of 1,400 U.S. CIOs. Twenty-four percent of respondents identified finding skilled technology professionals as their greatest staffing challenge. Providing professional development for current staff came in as the No. 2 challenge, cited by 23 percent of participants. "In areas such as Web development, database management, wireless networking and applications engineering, the supply of qualified professionals has not kept pace with the demand," said Katherine Spencer Lee, executive director of the Menlo Park, Calif.-based technology staffing firm, in a release.
